Water hammer is a problem that affects mains water services and is caused by pressure imbalances when a service valve, tap or shower valve is closed. This shock effects the pipe and can lead to leaks and noise. By using a water hammer arrestor it allows for a bellow effect in the pipeline that eliminates water hammer.
